Kadayawan Festival 2011

Davao City is the land of the majestic Philippine Eagles and mouth-watering Durian. KADAYAWAN is a festivity of life and thanksgiving for the plentiful gifts of nature and peaceful living. It derives from the pleasant Dabawenyo greeting, "Madayaw". Dayaw means good, precious, and beautiful.  So, if Madayaw is an adjective , Kadayawan is a nown, as in goodness or honesty.

The festival is celebrated every 3rd week of August. Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan ( Street Dancing) and Pamulak sa Kadayawan (Floral Float Parade) are the main highlights of the 26th Kadayawan sa Dabaw Festival. It showcased the different colors, cultures and traditional dances of the different tribes of Davao and Mindanao as they paraded along the city.

Indak-Indak sa Kadayawan is a street dance competition participated by different schools in their colorful tribal costumes and jewels.

Pamulak sa Kadayawan is a floral float parade aside from the fresh flowers, they include also fresh fruits.
