Family Holiday Choices on the Water from Seafarer

There is no doubt that families look for something more for their holiday than just a beach and a hotel.  An activity or a learning element to the holiday is increasingly a major requirement, whilst busy families who do very little together as a family at home, look for something that they can enjoy together as a family. Ultimately it is a way to reconnect as a family, given the diverse interests and obligations for parents and their children at home.

A sailing holiday can certainly tick all these boxes whilst often being surprisingly affordable whilst also great fun.

Here are three family holiday options from Seafarer to tempt you to take that plunge and get sailing!

Exploring The Cyclades Islands of Greece on a 50 foot fully crewed yacht.

Sailing in the Greek isles is something that everybody should do at least one in their life and the island group known as the Cyclades epitomises that idyllic image we all have of azure blue seas, golden beaches and white washed seaside villages with their characteristic traditional blue domed churches. Seafarer’s Cyclades sailing adventure features island hopping on a fabulous 50 foot sailing yacht with a skipper and hostess to do all the hard work and look after you. There’s plenty of swimming and snorkelling, plus a new destination to discover and explore each day, whilst there is plenty of opportunity to try your hand at sailing at taking the helm.

A week including flights, full crew, all yacht expenses and half board meals costs from just £895 pp

Learn to Sail a Yacht and Gain a Recognised RYA Sailing Qualification

Seafarer training, based in Lefkas in Greece offers the opportunity to learn to sail a yacht in the Greek sunshine in beautiful surroundings whilst gaining a recognised sailing qualification such as RYA Competent Crew or Day Skipper. You can charter the tuition with a private instructor for the family, whilst it is possible that crew and skipper tuition can be delivered concurrently. The instructor will ensure that everyone does their bit and benefits from the course, sunbathers can come along just form the ride.  The weekly itinerary tends to follow one of Seafarer’s flotillas which add a social element, some exploration and my family’s progress to sailing their own yacht s part of the flotilla during a second week.  A week’s private tuition for a family of 5 on a 40 foot yacht with instructor, inclusive of flights costs from £799 in low season up to £995 in high season.
