Pahiyas Festival 2013 Schedule of Activities

One of the most celebrated and most colorful festivals in the country is the Pahiyas Festival. It is an annual celebration in thanksgiving for abundant harvests. It is held every May 15th in Lucban, Quezon, in honor of the patron saint of farmers, San Isidro Labrador. The locals show their gratefulness by decorating their houses with harvests like fruits and vegetables and of local craftwork and handicraft.

One of the most traditional and must look after decoration is the kiping. The kiping is a leaf-shaped wafer made of rice, colored and carefully made by the locals of Lucban. Kiping can be made into a chandelier like decoration called as an ‘aranya’ or as enormous flowers which add charm to the houses
