Camping in Croatia: Things to Do

Croatia is becoming an increasingly popular European holiday destination, and it’s hardly surprising; it’s a country where historic architecture, beautiful coastlines and rich traditions abound. If you’re planning a camping holiday in Croatia, you've made a shrewd move, because with all the activities on offer, you’re guaranteed to have an unforgettable experience - but where do you begin? We've put together a list of must-do excursions that no visitor to this stunning country should miss.

Take in Dubrovnik's architecture

The most popular church in Dubrovnik, St Blaise's church, was built in the 18th century and still holds mass today. It has some stunning Baroque features and it’s a great place to stop for a coffee and a bit of peace and quiet. It’s also worth exploring the city’s Dominican Monastery, which also houses an art museum and a Gothic-Romanesque church. If you've got time, take a stroll around the city walls, which provide you with a stunning viewpoint of the surrounding vistas.

Marvel at Krka National Park

If you get the time, this enchanting park gives its visitors the chance to view a series of stunning waterfalls and a beautiful array of flora and fauna. One of the most highly admired areas of the park, Skradinski buk, is a huge natural pool. The diversity of its natural forms and the effects of the light mean that this area is often considered to offer the most visually stunning waterfalls in Europe. Having said that, Croatia plays host to eight protected national parks, which are all stunningly beautiful in their own right.

Dance the night away at a festival

In recent years, Croatia has become an increasingly popular destination for festival-goers, who flock to the country’s festival hot-spots, where you can expect dancing, loud music and reveling late into the night. You’ll find that there are Croatian festivals from Pula, right down to Tisno, in south Croatia. If you plan to get involved, prepare yourself for enchanting forests and wild boat parties – it’s no wonder Croatia is fast becoming a popular choice for partying!

Come on in, the water’s fine!

Croatia gives you loads of opportunities to partake in a range of watersports, but if you’re going for one of Canvas Holidays camping getaways, you’ll also have some great swimming pools close by and even a water sports school on the neighboring beach.
