Feeling the Winter Blues? Here Are Some Great Beach Getaways to Warm You Up!

Winter is coming, as they say on Game of Thrones. Well, that’s already incorrect – winter has come, and winter is here to stay, for the time being at least. It’s already horribly cold, wet and grey, and it seems more than likely that it’s going to get worse long before it gets better.

What we need to do is to get away – escape the awful weather and get to some sunshine! If you’re looking for a great winter getaway, then you've certainly come to the right place. Here are some fab destinations that should warm you right up!

South Africa
With a flight time of about 12 hours, this isn'’t a weekend break, but it’ll definitely be worth the journey! Between November and March is the best time to go (perfect!), with temperatures ranging between 20 and 30 degrees, depending on where you go.

You won’t see any of that pesky rain, either! If you’re after gloriously sunny beaches, you can either head to the incredibly popular Garden Route, or you can pop over to the less well-known Overberg Coast if you really want to get away from it all.

Get yourselves down to the Sun City Resort for a true beach holiday – sun, sea, sand, swimming pools, a casino, a crocodile reserve…

Bermuda
Bermuda is a little less of a trek – coming in at seven hours, the flights will still take up most of a day, but with beaches as pristine as the Bermudan ones, who are we to complain?

Come at some point between October and March for the best weather, when you’ll see temperatures at around the 20 degree mark, so you can soak up the sun on some of the planet’s most gorgeous beaches. We’d recommend Horseshoe Bay!

Cyprus
If you want something a little closer to home, Cyprus is only a 4-hour flight away – it’s one of our favourite luxury beach holidays at Secretescapes.com, and we try to visit at least every other year; that’s how glorious a trip it is.

October or November will be your best bet, though March is also a lovely month in Cyprus, mostly due to the blooming of the various flora. Temperatures will range from 10 to 20 degrees; not boiling but still T-shirt weather! Its recent economic troubles will play in your favour, meaning you can afford to splash out more than usual!

Kerala
If you want to vacation somewhere a little less touristy, Kerala is a great choice. Located right on the coast in south west India, the beautiful region will see temperatures of up to 30 degrees between the months of November and March, so only visit if you can stand the heat!

The trip will take about 9 hours each way, but wandering through the back country will make it all worthwhile. Visit the beaches near old Fort Cochin to soak up the sun, and make sure to try lots of the local cuisine; you won’t regret it.
